I work better with music playing

Some can't focus with music in the background.  For me, it spurs creativity.  It ignites passion from passion.  It gives me a fresh thought.  I really believe that it stimulates the mind.  The senses.  Music is more than just auditory.  It draws up emotions.  That, in turn, makes us more aware of what's going on.  For me...I say let the music play.

What I'm reading, listening to...

Over the past few weeks, I have been reading more and more it seems.  Here are a few things that I have read or am currently reading:

If God Were Real by John Avant.  A no-holds barred look at what Christianity has become....and it's NOT good. 

Crazy Love by Francis Chan.  An absolute must-read.  We'll be going through this book for DT during Jan.-March.  

My Utmost For His Highest by Oswald Chambers.  I've never done a year straight in this.  Not sure I will this time.  I pick it up and it challenges the heck outta me!!  Love this.  Read it online HERE.

Stuff I've been listening to lately.

Hope Rising album by Fee.  He's probably my favorite worship leader.

Ronald Jenkees

Ok....what's playing in my office right now-->  Ronald Jenkees.  You gotta check this guy out.  He is amazing on the keyboards and the music he creates.  Un-BELIEVABLE.  I'll be playing some of this during camp.  He's got amazing talent, and it just flows. 

He's got everything from a Rocky remix to Canon in D.

Super Jazz

I downloaded one of my favorite Jazz cds tonight on Itunes.  It's called Super Jazz: Vol. 1.  It is a compilation of New Orleans jazz legends Pete Fountain (on the clarinet) and the late Al Hirt (on the trumpet).  It is taken from 1976, when the Super Bowl was in New Orleans.  They were the halftime entertainment.  Man...how the times have changed.  It's an amazing album.

Good Day

Today has been good. 

• Talked to some of our Bible study leaders on the phone this morning.  Next year is shaping up nicely.
• Finished up a Bible Study
• Hanging out with the college group tonight at the Summers' for a cookout. 
• Micah is so close to being done with 1st grade.  He finishes up this week.  He was one of the top 4 accelerated readers in his class this year.  I think they get to do something special tomorrow for that.
• Ate some dang good upside-down sweet potato pie at lunch today.  My goodness!!
• Listening to some Steve Fee.
• I'm looking forward to going to see the new Indiana Jones movie this Friday.  
• American Idol finale is tonight.  I was/am rooting for David Cook.  I have to say, though, that David Archuletta smoked him last night.
