Horror Movies

With tomorrow being Friday the 13th, I thought I would share that I used to like horror movies.  I probably liked "Thrillers" more than Horrors.  I really liked the Scream movies and "I Know What You Did Last Summer".  I know the exact time that I was "broken" from watching horror movies.  We were living in Gulfport.  I don't think Micah was born yet.  Melanie and I went to the movies to watch "What Lies Beneath".  When Melanie screamed (loudly I must say) in the movie theater, I told her that was it for me. 

So...pretty much since then, we watch other genres of movies.  With that in mind,  here's a question for the day:

What is your favorite Horror/Thriller movie?

I triple dog dare ya!!

I watched A Christmas Story last night with Melanie.  I enjoyed it.  There are some really funny parts in it.  Now, I have to find a copy of "It's A Wonderful Life" to borrow from someone. It was $20 at Walmart.  I think I'll wait to see if it's worth it before I buy it.  A Christmas Story was only $13.  Anyway, I'll watch It's A Wonderful Life as soon as I can find it on tv or borrow it.

"It's A Wonderful Life" and "A Christmas Story"

I started a tsunami of comments on my facebook this morning when I posted as my status: "Mark has never seen "A Christmas Story" or "It's a Wonderful Life".  Within 5 minutes of posting the status, there were about 9 comments.  I was going to Mobile to see one of our friends' newborn.  When I returned, there were about 20 comments.  It has been fun to see all the comments.  20 so far. 

So....I will be on a quest over the next few weeks to watch these movies.  My personal recommendation to everyone for a Christmas movie:  HOME ALONE.  Yes....it is a classic!!

High School Musical 3

We took the family to see High School Musical 3 last night in Mobile.  Now I'm not much on musicals.  But the whole High School Musical series is more of a cultural phenomenon than anything.  It was ok.  If I had to rate the three, I would say the first one was the best.  #3 comes in second....and HSM 2 comes in a distant third.  Disney has a winner on its hands. 

Home Alone / I Am Legend trailer

I love the movie "Home Alone".  I thought this was pretty cool.

The Guardian

I am re-watching The Guardian.  This movie has some excellent team and leadership principles in it.  Having a coast guard base in Mobile, just 30 minutes away, gives you an appreciation for what they guys and girls do.

The Bucket List

Melanie and I watched The Bucket List last night.  I thought it was an excellent movie.  Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman are two men who are terminally ill.  They have a list of things to do before they die.  Overall, it gives a lot of thought to life and what it's about.  There is a great scene when they are on a plane and they dialogue about God and faith.  I'd recommend watching this one.

3:10 to Yuma

Melanie and I watched the western, 3:10 to Yuma last night.  It was an ok movie.  It wasn't as good as I was under the impression of it being.  Still an ok movie.  Since I've been in the movie critic mode lately, I'll give it a C+.  It just didn't keep me interested. 

On the other hand, I watched National Treasure 2 the other night, and thoroughly enjoyed it.  I'll give it an A.  The first one was an A+.  The second one was a good sequel, but not as good as the first.  Definitely one worth watching.
