We were in Mobile today picking some things up for the house. We had to eat lunch, so we decided to try a new place we knew nothing about. It was a GREAT decision. Cheeburger! Cheeburger is across the street from O'Charley's and Home Depot on Schillinger in Mobile, AL. Their burgers are amazing, with basically unlimited toppings. The onion rings were EXCELLENT!! It is a kind of made like a 50s diner, but not completely. They also have about 90 different types of ice cream. We will definitely be going there many more times.
So...since a week from Monday is a school holiday, we are setting it up to go out after church next Sunday night there. Who's game?
We headed over to Mobile today. We had to pick up some shower curtains, new bedding for Micah, and some paint. We ate at Chili's on Schillinger. I will NOT go back there. You see, I love Chili's. I have given this Chili's multiple chances, but the service and wait time is HORRIBLE. There are too many other places that can get us in and out under 1 hr to keep going. I will sacrifice!!
Well, good morning. I must say again that the meal at the ministers/wives fellowship was good last night!! This morning, I'm sipping on some sweet tea. You see, I'm one of those people who believe that sweet tea could be the universal fluid, instead of just water. I find it interesting too, that the U.S. is the only place in the world, that I know, that drinks iced tea. Everywhere else drinks hot tea. Not only that, we like it SWEET in the South. While I was in Connecticut one of my two summers I spent there, I was telling the family I stayed with how to make it. She paused for a moment. And I quote, "That's the same way we make the "nectar juice" for the hummingbird feeder. And you wonder why we get hyper sometimes.
We are "in between" right now in regards to groceries. It's too close to time before we visit family for Thanksgiving to get a lot of groceries. So tonight, we ate at the Waffle House in Lucedale. My food was ok. I was a little disappointed though.
The pros: The hot chocolate is good, waffles are good, bacon ok.
The cons: My eggs weren't "over easy" as I ordered them. The service was slow (only 2 other tables had people and it still took a long time), and it just wasn't great.
I'll go back. Mainly b/c I like breakfast food. And you can't say "Well, you get what you pay for". Our family meal was over $30. Oh well. Lesson learned.
We're having dinner at Melanie's parents tonight. The menu:
Hot Chicken Wings (per my request...Melanie's dad makes the best ones around)
Turkey (half cajun/half regular)
Dressing
Green Beans
Rolls
Strawberry Cake
and some other things I haven't yet found out about.
I'm planning on indulging in all of it. We usually don't do turkey at my parents' house for Thanksgiving, so having it this weekend will be great.
The jury is still out on whether we're going to the game tomorrow or not. It really depends on how cold it is.
We went to the Japanese Steak House in Mobile the night before the storm hit. Our company was excellent. I laughed and laughed and laughed. We ate and ate and ate. I had two "firsts" on this night. I had eaten Japanese many times before. However, I had never eaten Sushi. And I had never gone with Mitchel Summers. These were two experiences. The sushi was ok. I'd do it again, but you already get so much food, that I couldn't imagine eating that and then eating all my other food. Going with Mitchel & Tonya, Robert, Beverly, Robert, Kathy, and Melanie....now that was a blast!! Here are some pics.
There are other pics that won't be on the blog....hmmm.
We're eating Chinese for lunch. Melanie and Malaree have been in Mobile this morning. There is a GREAT chinese take-out place called China Kitchen on the west side of Mobile. They pack it up nice and it stays super hot even until you get home. Today, Sweet and Sour chicken, rice, and hopefully some noodles. Oh yeah...a fortune cookie.
