I'm thinking back on the events of tonight. We had our RA/GA/Mission Friend recogniton. It was basically an opportunity to recognize the children that are involved in our mission organizations. RAs, GAs, and Missions Friends doesn't "work" everywhere. It does at Agricola.
What I love about our RAs, GAs, and Mission Friends is this: They don't just learn about missions, they DO MISSIONS. They don't just talk about the church. They are busy BEING the church.
I opened the night with a welcome and a prayer. And as I prayed for these kids and their leaders, I realized that a HUGE investment is being made in them RIGHT now in regards to BEING the church rather than just being a part of an organization. The influence that the leaders have on them in shaping each kids' view of missions is INCREDIBLE!! Missions is the heartbeat of God. If we teach AND involve kids early in missions, we instill in them the very heartbeat of God.
As I sat in the sound booth after my opening welcome and prayer, I heard kid after kid come to the mic and tell about what they were DOING and what they had done. I don't think they talked about one person they learned about. They talked about the things THEY had done as MISSIONARIES themselves.
For that, I am thankful of the investment and influence that is happening in their lives!!
