I went to Mosley's Meat Market while I was in Mobile yesterday. They have great meats to choose from. Probably their best deal, however, is their bacon-wrapped filets for $7. There are a limited quantity of these cut each day. I picked up three with the intention of grilling them tonight. So, I fired up the grill late this afternoon.
As I was grilling, I was thinking to myself, "I probably could've gotten away with cooking the kids something like sausage or even a sirloin or something". As I thought about this a little more, I got to thinking..."no, that's a benefit of being a part of the family." What we do, we do together. If we eat PB&J, we do it together. If we eat filet, we do it together. Why? Because we're a family.
Then it really hit me. I eat from "the King's table" every day. Why? Because I'm a child of the king. I have a seat at the table of Jesus. I eat what the Father has set before me. Why? Because I'm His. The blessings that come from being a part of the family are plentiful. What I receive from being His is incredible.
The other side is this, though: Along with blessings, comes the struggles. Remember, Jesus said, "they will hate you because they hate me." Yes....that's part of it too. But back to the filets...
I'm glad that because I'm "in the family" that I get to eat filets. And my son and daughter get to have a part of that as well. It was just a reminder to me that I don't get "seconds" because I'm a child of the King. I get the BEST because I'm a child of the King.
