Paul Harvey passes away

Paul Harvey died today (Saturday, February 28th, 2009) at the age of 90.  I grew up listening to Paul Harvey and "the rest of the story".  My dad introduced that radio program to me.  I didn't exactly grow up in the radio era.  But Paul Harvey was one of two things I listened to on the radio.  The other was Jack Cristil as the commentator for Miss. State sports.  

For Paul Harvey, though, my dad and I would ride around town and through the country long enough to listen to the local news and then Paul's show.  On some Saturdays, we would catch it twice I think.  Anyway, it is a fond memory to think back on today.  Paul's distinct voice was known by millions, and allowed me to make memories with my dad.  Thanks...and goodbye.

3 Extra

We have 3 extra boys staying with us tonight.  Micah is having three of his buddies spending the night tonight.  It should be fun and crazy around here.  These are just some of the guys he plays soccer with, goes to church with, goes to school with, and just hangs out with.  We'd love for him to have them all over, but that would be mass chaos.  Anyway, he's going to have a great time I know. We've got some movies to watch, pizza to eat, and lots of fun to have.  

Soccer update:  Game was cancelled due to rain.  We rescheduled for Thurs. night March 12th.

The New Traditional Church

Back

I am back at it.  I actually came to church last night around 5 P.M. to get back into it.  I knew that I had a lot to do to get caught up.  We had a great time with the kids in Starkville visiting Melanie's family.  I've got some pics from some of the activities we did while we were there.  I'll post them later.  Today, though, is getting caught up, and getting ready for Sunday. 

Welcome to Fabulous Starkvegas

We arrived in Starkville last night for a visit with Melanie's family.  Malaree had a rough night Sunday night, and wasn't feeling 100%.  She's better now that she has some meds.  Anyway, today we're taking the kids to paint pottery at some place in Starkville.  This afternoon, Micah and I will go to Dudy Noble Field to watch the Bulldogs play South Alabama in baseball.  I'm looking forward to that for sure!!  We may even catch a little of my nephew's soccer game. (He's a year younger than Micah).  I did not make it "home" to our parents near enough in 2008.  So in 2009, I'm making sure that I don't let time go by and not make a few visits to my parents and Melanie's.  Here's to a great day ahead!!

A marathon day

We are finally winding down this Sunday.  It has been a long day.  KidStuf Sundays are always very busy and full.  We have just enough time to eat lunch, and get back to the church.  It's always a good 11-12 hour day.  It's all worth it though.  The virtue for KidStuf and the month of March is Hope.  So...here we are finally resting and watching the Academy Awards (The Oscars).  I don't really get into the Oscars, but there isn't any football on for another 6 months or so. 

Soccer update for Feb. 21st....and hockey

We had a double-header this morning at the soccer fields. 

1st Game--We won 9-2.  MIcah scored 2 goals. 
2nd Game--We won 8-3.  Micah scored 3 goals. 

Our team played great both games.  We were a little tired the second game, but that is understandable.  It was 3-3 going into the final quarter.  We turned up the heat for that final quarter, and scored 5 unanswered goals to finish it out. 

So, this afternoon, we'll rest for a little while.  Tonight, we're taking a group of 34 RAs and parents to the MS Seawolves game at the Coast Coliseum in Biloxi.  It'll be fun, but a late night. 

Never done

I moved some stuff out of our storage room at the other house today.  That is the benefit of not having to be completely out.  The storage room was/is the only thing left.  I brought over a ton of stuff, but there is still a lot left. 

Tonight, we will be around the house!!  Yes!!  Tomorrow, however, is a marathon day.  We have a double-header in soccer.  The first one is at 9, and the second is at 11 A.M.  Tomorrow afternoon, we leave with 34 of us to go to the hockey game in Biloxi.  It should be a lot of fun.  The 1st-6th grade boys and some parents.  Sunday....well, it's a KidStuf Sunday, so it'll be busy.  We had one of our cast members have a death in the family, so someone has already stepped up to take his place.  We have some great people that help pull KidStuf off. 

Wild Game Supper

We had a GREAT wild game supper tonight at Agricola Baptist.  The food was outstanding, and the speaker did a good job.  More than anything, though, the fellowship was great!!  I love hanging out with friends we have here in Agricola.  Micah went with me tonight, and got to hang out with one of his friends as well.

Mobile Popcorn

I didn't know Mobile Popcorn existed until a week and a half ago.  They are basically a "concession" company.  They sell popcorn, nachos, snow cone, hot dog, pretzel, and other "Machines" and warmers.  It's a pretty cool place.  They were having an "open house" today.  Not many people were there, but I was able to pick up a few things for our Fireproof movie night.  A friend rode over with me, and we had a great time talking about what God is doing.  All in all, it was a great morning. 

Getting back to the office, some other friends were figuring out how to get the rest of our church wired for server and internet access.  These guys can do it!!

Tonight, church will be happening at ABC.  I will be with the RA's for a little while.  I may sneak into the adult prayer meeting a little late.  We'll see.
